Walking in a Bergkamp wonderland
前槍手/英格蘭指導教練之一的Don Howe談到他對Bergy的看法。
Dennis Bergkamp wants one more season at Arsenal and he may just have
clinched a new deal after a virtuoso performance in the win over Everton.
It would extend to 10 years Bergkamp's stay at Highbury, where he has
produced sublime performances and led Arsenal into a new era.
BBC Sport spoke to former Gunners and England coach Don Howe to get his
thoughts on the Dutch master.
ABILITY AND ATTITUDE
Dennis is gifted.
Dennis很有才能。
His vision and passing technique are superb.
他的視野與傳球技術皆屬上乘
And in that position just behind the centre-forward, Dennis has the ability
to play people in.
身處在中前鋒的身後，Dennis能讓其他隊友也參與到進攻。
He has the freedom to pick up the ball, and any player making a run knows
they have almost 100% chance of Dennis finding them.
他可以自由的拿到球，其他任何無球隊友跑動時，他們都知道Dennis都可以立刻找
到他們。(講得好像他有好幾隻眼睛...)
For a manager or a coach, he is the easiest man to work with, from his
application in training every day to his acceptance of new ideas and tactics.
對於任何一個教練或指導，Dennis對訓練投入且可以溝通接受新戰術與觀念。
Around the club and in the dressing room he is just one of the lads and he
doesn't want anything special.
但是俱樂部與休息室裡，他跟其他球員一樣平凡，也不會去要求什麼特殊待遇。
Dennis is a down-to-earth character and doesn't walk around with a huge ego.
丹尼斯是個有平實個性的人，他沒有膨脹的自我。
But if people take liberties with him - on and off the pitch - he will come
back at you hard.
但是如果場上或場外有人中傷他，他也會重重的反擊。
He's had his name taken a few times and does have that 'you kick me, I'll
kick you back' mentality. But you need that at the top level.
在過去，丹尼斯常被人們說他是"如果你踢我，我會把你踢回來"的球員。但是
在頂級的比賽裡，你需要這種心態。(這點雷耶斯多少得學著點)
You have to be able to compete and you have to have aggression and when
Dennis needs it, he has it. And he lets his opponents know it, too.
你需要這種態度才能跟對手競爭，有強烈的攻擊慾。當丹尼斯有這種態度，他也會讓
對手知道他有這種態度。
A FREE SPIRIT
The one criticism of Dennis, if there is one, is that he maybe never got in
to the box enough.
對丹尼斯的批評之一是，他帶在禁區外的時間太多，待在禁區內的時間太少。
And he ought to have scored more goals than he has.
也有批評講說他應該進更多球。
If he could have added that drive to get on the end of something in the box,
he would have been the best in the world.
他如果能把一股動力轉化到在禁區內的表現，他有可能成為世界上最好的球員。
But Dennis enjoys being free.
但是丹尼斯喜歡自由自在。
He is responsible, but he wants to be able to express himself and make his
own decisions on the pitch.
他很有責任感，但是他也認為他應該能在場上表達他自己，並作自己認為對的決定。
You can't force him to be in certain areas of the pitch at certain times.
你有時就是沒辦法去逼丹尼斯讓他只待在場上的某些塊區域內。
And that's probably why he didn't quite make it in Italy, when he was at
Inter Milan.
也許就是因為這樣，他在國米時表現才不好。
He was tied down, tactically. It restricted him and he didn't enjoy it.
在國米時，他被戰術給綁住，他並不喜歡這種感覺。
I remember he spoke to the kids at Arsenal one day and they asked him about
Italy. Dennis said it was too regimented.
我記得當丹尼斯有次在槍手時跟小孩子聊，當小孩子問他說義大利怎麼樣時，他說

INSPIRATIONAL
Dennis is highly influential at Arsenal and you can see that in the way he
has helped Robin van Persie recently.
丹尼斯在槍手隊內很有影響力，你可以看得到他對RvP近來的影響
Not long ago Van Persie was a bit 'lively' and he played as if he wanted to
beat every man on the pitch.
不久前范佩西很"活躍"，他打球的模樣看起來好像他試著想過場上所有球員。
But I think he looked at Dennis and has seen that if a great like Dennis
plays the ball early and does what the manager wants, he really has to as
well.
但我認為范佩西應該有像伯格坎普學習，當范佩西看到Bergy如何早一步處裡球並做
到教練的要求，范佩西也得做到。
Dennis, I'm sure, guided him on his way.
我確信，丹尼斯一定有指導他。
(記得我以前抱怨RvP門前把球停在兩腳中間想用第三隻腳射門嗎？現在他可不一樣，
接來球瞬間決定下一腳要射門時球該停在什麼位置，就像對WBA時的進球一樣)
I've been in football all my life and have seen some wonderful players.
我一生從事足球工作且看過不少很棒的球員。
But when I've been at Highbury and I've known Dennis Bergkamp was going to
play, I couldn't wait for the match to start.
但當我到海布里且知道Bergy要上場時，我還是等不及要看他比賽。
I knew I would see a wonderful player who would entertain me and lift me off
my seat.
因為我知道我將會看到一個令人驚奇的球員，他將會帶給我娛樂，讓我看著比賽不自覺的
從座位上站起來。
He is the top man.
他是最棒的。

記得九二年歐洲國家盃結束後，我雖然看不到Bergkamp風采，但是已經知道有個年輕
人該屆的表現已經直逼三劍客的范巴司頓，結果當他跟Win Jonk這兩個AJAX雙子星到
國米時，我還滿心期待的想看他進球，結果很失望，那時看不太懂球賽，不知道為何
Bergkamp打的那麼差(更不用說那個Sosa與Pancev)。
結果兩季後他來到槍手，就回復他的光采了，轉眼間他在海布里已經快十年了。看到現
在看到他跟范佩西在場上比賽，其實感觸還蠻深的。
