Bergkamp說他希望足總盃決賽前就能知道到底俱樂部願不願意續約，Dennis的經紀人
對球會與溫格曖昧不明的態度也很不滿，說類似的事每年都發生一次，很惱人。
不過Bergy雖然放了話，自己倒是對於續約的事表示樂觀：
"You must not forget that I signed the last two contracts for one year, and
every time we sat down I was told 'you are getting older, you will play
less'," said Bergkamp.
別忘了我在過去已經兩次簽了只續一年的合約，每次當我坐下談續約的事時，球會
都會說，：你年紀漸漸大了，你不會像現在上場這麼多次。
"This was when I turned 30, 31, 32. So for the past four or five years I have
been hearing this and I am still playing my 35 or 40 games.
在我30,31,32歲時我就聽到俱樂部這樣的告誡，在過去的四五年中，但是這季我還是
能上場三十多場的比賽。
"When I make the decision to carry on that is in the back of my mind.
當我決定要繼續我的足球事業時，我一直都會記得。
"I might be playing less, but as long as I can play at the highest level why
not?
也許我上場的機會將會越來越少，但是只要我能在最高層次的舞台上出現，
為何不繼續踢球下去？
"I am not looking to go to another club to play 50 games, I am looking to
play at the highest level."
我並不想去另外一家俱樂部，只為了可以踢一季五十場的比賽(可能指荷甲)，我的
目標是在最高水準的比賽中上場。

溫格則是一秉神秘的態度，說他已經在心中對是否要讓Bergkamp續約的事做了決定，
