MANIA ARTICLES - If you are in the first team of any of Europe's top 8 teams,
is there any point moving to another one?
(如果你是最有希望奪歐冠的八支隊伍裡的先發隊員之一，為什麼你會想從這一隊轉會到
另一隊？)
Any of Europe's top 8 clubs could win the Champions League. Admittedly,
Chelsea has more of a chance than Arsenal and Arsenal have more of a
chance than Lyon for example. But just the way Porto and Monaco ended up
the finals last year, any of the top 8 could do the same. It only takes
an injury to John Terry and Robben on a crucial Champions League (CL)
knock-out night to turn Chelsea into the same class as Monaco and then
it's all over. It is really a cup competition! Henry, Ljungberg and Vieira
know this well. That's why Pat was prepared to turn his back on Madrid
when he wasn't offered what he expected. He knew his CL expectation would
not be that seriously dented by being at Arsenal. That's why the others
have not been tempted to move.
機率上來說，這八支隊伍都有機會奪歐冠，只不過機會大小而已，就像契爾西的機會
砲兵的大，砲兵又比里昂的機會大，但也別望了即使是這八支隊伍之外的隊伍，也是
也機會爭歐冠，像是摩納哥跟波爾圖，畢竟這是盃賽。亨利，永伯，PV4都知道這點，
這就是為什麼當皇馬不準備給PV4他想要的東西(應該是跟其他球星同等級的薪資)時
PV4就決定不去皇馬而留在海布里。
If you are playing in one of those top 8 teams, and you are in the first
15 of your team, the only conceivable motivation (besides money) for
moving from one to the other is to improve your chances of winning the CL
rather than the league or domestic cup. Most players in the top 8 teams of
Europe have already got domestic honours under their belt. OK, there's
Chelsea.
如果你是這幾支奪冠熱門隊伍的先發十五人之一，動機除了金錢外，無非就是奪歐冠
的機率，本國聯賽與盃賽的冠軍這些隊伍多半都已經拿過，不過，也有例外的，像是
契爾西。
The case of Edu seems simple. Edu would be taking a step down to Valencia,
his chances of CL victory there are not better, maybe worse in my opinion.
Therefore the motivation must be something else. Edu has to have made a
calculation that goes a bit like this. Edu knows Vieira and Gilberto are
higher in the pecking order. Edu is not confident that he can displace
either of them. Edu's third place in that pecking order has been greatly
threatened by the display he has seen from Fabregas and Flamini while he's
been injured or haggling over contracts. Edu is not confident that he can
win that battle in the long run either, so he's decided to split.
對EDU來說，他會願意去瓦倫的原因也許跟歐冠無關，因為瓦倫的奪歐冠的機會並不會
比砲兵好多少，所以他會想離開一定是經過一番盤算，在防守中場的先發順序裡，
EDU只能算是排第三，在PV4跟gilberto之後，而在Fabregas跟Flamini來到陣中後
，EDU的老三位置也是受到威脅，既然他沒有信心能長期保住老三甚至晉升先發十一
人的位置，他選擇離開。
(我的意見：真的嗎？瓦倫不是也有兩個西班牙國腳Albelda跟Barajas？)
Edu has said that his contract expectations are not being matched by
Arsenal. That cannot be the case, the problem has to be about Edu's
confidence in making first team appearances. Arsenal seem like they
want to keep him and they must know that it's not about money, that's
why they haven't budged on the contract or taken a fee from Valencia,
risking a free transfer. Maybe Arsene Wenger thinks he can work on
Edu's confidence before the end of the season.
EDU說砲兵給的續約條件不如他想像中的合理，所以他才想要離開。砲兵管理層
雖然想留住EDU，但他們知道EDU離開的理由不完全是薪資的緣故，所以在續約條
件上沒有讓步，甚至願意冒讓EDU在約滿自由轉會的危險。也許，溫格認為他自己可
以建立EDU對日後他在砲兵先發順序的信心，才會想再多留住EDU半年。
Ashley Cole's situation is a little more complex. The circumstancial
"evidence" out there suggests that he was either active or passively
compliant in some kind of contact with Chelsea. Cole doesn't seem to
be the character to be concerned about fighting Gael Clichy for a place
in the team. Does Cole really feel he has better chance of winning the
CL with Chelsea or is he just annoyed at his wages? If it's the wages,
then Arsenal need to see this as a potential problem and improve the
lot of their players. The worst case scenario is if Cole sees it as a
career advancing move in terms of honours. If that's the problem then
Arsenal really have a problem, one that they have solve before it
affects the whole team.
A.Cole的情形較複雜，雖然有所謂的"證據"顯示他可能親自去過藍軍所邀的密談
，但是柯爾的先發位置不像是會被Clichy威脅到樣子，那柯爾到底是為何想去藍軍
那裡？為了錢？還是為了歐冠？如果是為了錢，那這問題砲兵還是可以解決，
也許日後也得給其他隊員更高的薪資也說不定。但是如果柯爾是因為奪獎盃的機率
才想去藍軍，那砲兵必須得正視這問題？
(我也覺得柯爾的先發位置不像是會被Clichy威脅到，至於想去藍軍的原因，
我想高薪跟奪冠機會都有吧)
The timing of the Reyes hoax could not have been worse, following
from Edu and Cole. Arsenal and its players sense this, that's why
Henry has declared that he will never leave Arsenal. Henry's confidence
and performance are closely knitted in a fragile emotional bundle that
he has found the manager and the security at Highbury to manage. Arsenal
is good for him when things are good and when things are bad. He has
found a home and it seems no matter how bad things get at Arsenal, if
Wenger is there, he will stay. Not even the potential exit of Vieira
shook his conviction.
雷耶斯的問題跟他本人在新環境的調適很大的關係。但是，留在海布里
對他來說應該是最好的選擇，因為溫格為給他支持，其他隊友也是。
Reyes is clearly not happy at Highbury. He doesn't feel, I speculate,
that he will have the same chances of glory, team orders and respect
as Henry has. In Spain, especially in Reyes home area and Seville,
Reyes' bad performances have been blamed on Henry rather than Reyes.
The national team coach, Aragones tried to exploit that and Reyes is
now believing that too. Arsene has brilliantly responded to the hoax
by not blaming Reyes, providing excuses for him about how tough moves
abroad are on young players and finally challenging him to ride the
bad times and show his character.
雷耶斯也許會認為他在隊中的地位沒有亨利來的高，在西班牙，尤其是雷耶斯的
老家賽維亞，大家都認為雷耶斯前陣子狀態的低落是亨利造成的，連西班牙國家
隊教練Aragones也讓雷耶斯自己這樣認為。溫格對此其實可以韃伐雷耶斯一番，
但是溫格卻替雷耶斯提供了一個藉口，就是年輕球員在海外踢球本來就不容易，
溫格可以諒解雷耶斯目前的困難，但他也要雷耶斯堅強起來，證明自己也作給別
人看。
Reyes has now been party to two incidents that must make him very
uncomfortable and lonely in the dressing room. First, the unsavoury
comments by Aragones which he would have felt very uncomfortable
about when he returned. Henry then launched the Anti-Racism campaign
following that and Reyes wasn't part of it. This young lad with very
"outside" experience and no old friends in the team would have felt
really bad about it all and lonely. Now he's been hoaxed by the Radio
station and referred to "bad people" at Arsenal. He will return to the
dressing room feeling even worse. To make matters worse, he's not
scored for a long time.
雷耶斯在球員休息室的孤立情形，與兩件事有關，一是Aragones對亨利含有種族歧
視的評語，二是亨利的反種族歧視的造勢活動，雷耶斯沒有參與到。然後又是日前
雷耶斯被西班牙電台詭計給騙到，說砲兵陣中有些"壞人"讓他感覺很不好。最要命
的是，他已經一陣子沒進球了。
These are crucial times for Arsenal in the dressing room, never mind
the pitch. How Arsene Wenger manages these may determine whether we
have a competitive team next season.
這其間是砲兵的關鍵時期，不論是場上還是場外 ，就看溫格要如何解決了。

雖然這文章在幾個地方寫的有幾分道理，但我不是完全同意這文章。而且，感覺這
文章是寫在昨晚比賽前，因為雷耶斯昨晚已經進一球又助攻一球。希望能多幾支像
是水晶宮隊的防守讓雷耶斯多建立點信心。
如果雷耶對拜仁時能進關鍵球，那就更棒了。 :
