'OTHER' MATSUI ON BOSS' LIST

One Matsui isn't enough for George Steinbrenner,
The Post has learned.

Buoyed by Hideki Matsui's recent succes, the Yankees
are ready to dive into the race for Japanese shortstop
Kazuo Matsui, a switch-hitter with power, speed and
a throwing arm that has pushed speed guns to 95 mph and
who reminds scouts of Seattle sensation Ichiro Suzuki.

John Cox, the Yankees' head of Pacific Rim scouting will
head to Japan next month to look at the 28-year-old shortstop
who plays for the Seibu Lions and will be a free agent
at the end of this season. And VP Damon Oppenheimer may join Cox.

"He is lights out," a Yankee source said of Kazuo who batted .332
last year with 36 homers, 86 RBIs, an on-base percentage of .389
and a slugging percentage of .617.

The Yankees are eyeing Kazuo Matsui as a second or third baseman.
If he's is signed for second, the Yanks would move Alfonso Soriano
to left and likely shift Hideki Matsui to right,
replacing Raul Mondesi. If Kazuo plays third,
he replaces Robin Ventura and is an admission that the Yankees
were wrong about Drew Henson.

The Mets, Dodgers, Padres and Angels also are interested.

完全沒有意思。

George King說的話可以相信，狗屎都可以吃了。
