李娜在微博和官方Facebook專頁分別以中英文發布退賽訊息：

我親愛的球迷朋友們，很遺憾地通知大家，我不能參加即將到來的蒙特利爾網球大師賽，
辛辛那提網球大師賽和美網了。從3月開始，在我需要處在最佳狀態時，膝傷又復發了。
我的醫療團隊因此建議我休賽幾場以助於康復。我期待著到秋天時回到賽場，參加武漢和
北京的比賽！

I wanted to let all of my great fans know that unfortunately I am going to
have to withdraw from the upcoming WTA events in Montreal and Cincinnati, as
well as the US Open. Since March, I have been struggling with my knee and it
is just not where I need it to be in order to play at the highest level. My
medical team has advised me that I need to take some time off to rest my knee
so it heels. I look forward to getting back on the court this fall in Wuhan
and Beijing.
