Emirates, which is owned by the government of Dubai, is the largest customer of the delay-plagued A380. It has 58 on order in a deal worth about 18.8 billion dollars based on list prices. Emirates launched a non-stop service with its first A380 between Dubai and New York on August 1. The airline's president Tim Clark said earlier this month that further deliveries would take place in November and December with a fifth aircraft to be delivered in either January or February. Emirates, the Middle East's biggest carrier, has had a long wait for the superjumbo, with the first initially scheduled for delivery in October 2007. Clark ruled out seeking compensation from European manufacturer EADS. Clark said Emirates would use the second A380 to turn its twice-weekly flights to New York into daily flights. The other superjumbos will be used to operate flights to London Heathrow starting in December and Sydney and Auckland next February. http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2008/10/24/317920/picture-emirates-takes-delivery-of-second-airbus-a380.html http://0rz.tw/3150K Emirates Airline has taken delivery of its second Airbus A380 for use on its Dubai-New York route starting on 27 October. The A380 will join Emirates' existing ultra-large Airbus variant also serving New York JFK, increasing the frequency of A380-operated flights to the US city to daily. Emirates currently operates two Boeing 777-300ER daily rotations to New York. Emirates has 56 more A380 machines on order, of which two more are slated for delivery by the end of 2008. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.133.220.118
