British Airways to charge £30 for changing ticket names 21 Nov 2008 British Airways is to introduce a service fee of £30 to reissue a ticket due to a misspelled name. The new charge comes into effect on 1 December and applies to bookings made through travel management companies. Names on tickets can only be changed where documents can be provided to prove that there is no change of passenger – e.g. where a customer has made a reservation in their married name, but the passport still shows the maiden name. Travel management companies can still make changes, or ask BA to do so on its behalf, prior to ticket issue free of charge. BA’s move, which aligns the fee with those made through direct channels, follows the introduction of a similar £30 fee by Virgin Atlantic on 1 November. Travel management companies say the move clarifies the airline’s previous rules which were sometimes unclear. Norman Gage, director of businesstravel at the Advantage consortium, told businesstravelworld.com: “We constantly ask travel bookers to check names provided are exactly as in passport but still mistakes are made. Often a client will only check a ticket after issue. They may then advise us of a small spelling mistake in a name. The rule is then a matter of interpretation. As a TMC we need to know that our airline partners have the ability and resource to correct a ticket when an honest mistake has been made and it is only right that they should charge for this…I would like to think that BA and other airlines are waking up and realising that most mistakes are just that – a mistake – and, as partners we just need to fix it for our mutual clients." http://www.businesstravelworld.com/page.cfm/action=Archive/ArchiveID=6/Entry ID=1367 http://0rz.tw/2e56Z -- RAISE THE FIST OF THE METAL CHILD! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.133.220.118
