BEA calls off search for AF Flight 447's FDR, CVR

The French BEA said yesterday that it has abandoned the search for
the flight data and cockpit voice recorders from the Air France A330-200
that crashed May 31 about 360 mi. off Brazil's northeast coast,
killing all 228 aboard, though it has not ruled out restarting
the search later this year.
法國政府負責調查民航事故的 BEA (類似我國 ASC) 在昨天宣布，
他們已經放棄搜尋法航 447 航班的飛行資料記錄器(FDR)和座艙語音記錄器(CVR).
但他們並未斷言日後不會重啟搜尋。
Searches using sophisticated equipment including a specialized submarine
"did not make it possible to locate the airplane wreckage,"
the accident investigation agency said.
It added that it will "gather together a team of international
investigators in the next few weeks to analyze the data collected
with a view to [initiating a new] search phase and to
determine the requirements and means to undertake this."
雖然動用了如特殊潛艇的尖端設備，但是還是沒能夠定位出飛機殘骸。
在接下來幾週，調查單位將會召集一個由國際調查專家組成的小組
去分析目前握有的資料，並決定下一階段的調查將如何進行。
Even without the FDR and CVR, investigators have been able to
review significant data sent by AF447. BEA previously confirmed that
the doomed A330 sent 24 messages over 15 min. via its aircraft
communications addressing and reporting system.
That data revealed "inconsistency between the measured speeds as well
as the associated consequences," leading to speculation
that malfunctioning pitot probes played a role in the crash.
BEA said the probes were "a factor but not the cause" of the accident
雖然沒有 FDR 和 CDR、但是由於法航班機配備了通訊發信設備，
BEA 已確認 AF447 在最後十五分鐘成功發送出 24 則訊息，
由於資料已經顯示出量測空速和後果有著不正常的跡象，
BEA 將得以靠這些資料找出造成失事的因素（但非主因）。
Meanwhile, Airbus told airlines that Thales pitot probes
(used by the crashed aircraft) should be replaced with Goodrich models
on all A330s/A340s as a "precautionary measure"
同時，空中巴士公司已經通令航空業，將 A330/A340 型航機所使用的
Thales 公司生產的皮托管更換為 Goodrich 公司的產品以作為預防措施。
Thales 公司生產的皮托管即為 AF447 失事班機所使用的設備。
