    I am completely appalled and infuriated by such an inaccurate and
defamatory report.

    In this story, you have reported that, "At a pre-match inspection
officials at the Asian Games in China asked her (Ms. Yang Shu-chun) to remove
the illegal sensors. When it became clear she had ignored the request, the
fight for a place in the quarter-finals of the under 49kg (108lb) division
was stopped." However, please do examine the following clip from Taiwanese
television broadcast:

At 02:00, when the match is about to commence, Yang was asked to go back to
her coach and then REMOVED A SENSOR (from 02:36 to 02:42). After that, the
match began. However, at 05:30, the match was halted and a lengthy discussion
began. In the match and during the discussion, Yang Shu-Chun DID NOT IGNORE
ANY REQUESTS, because there was not a single Asian Games official, nor the
judge, who posed any questions to Yang herself. She waited until the end of
this clip for the judge and the officials to decide if there is any problem
in the match.

    Also, in this clip, the commentators mentioned that if there is any
problem during pre-match inspection, the match will not begin until all
doubts are solved. Since the match started, why the sudden time-out? And it
was not even Yang's Vietnamese opponent or her coach that requested the
time-out.

    The two athletes were called upon the ring again, and it was announced
that Yang Shu-Chun was disqualified. She was not asked to do anything during
the wait for the discussion.

    You also reported "The use of electronic sensors in the fighters' socks
was introduced to make judging more transparent. But it seems Yang Shu-chun
of Taiwan attempted to give herself an added advantage by installing one
extra sensor in each sock."

    Where is the "extra sensor" in the report mentioned above? If Yang did
hide an extra sensor, why was it not shown to everyone at the match to justify
Yang's disqualification? Is there any pre-match inspector who can testify
that Yang did play against the rules? Until now, the "extra sensor" and
inspectors are nowhere to be seen.

    "The technical committee did not allow Taiwan's team a chance to explain
before making the decision and we regret the unfair ruling," said the Sports
Affairs Council.

    Even more disturbing is the affair happened above. Why was Taiwan's team
NOT given an opportunity to explain? Was this fair? Especially in an
IOC-approved game?

   "Taiwan's top sports body voiced its concern over the disqualification"
you reported, yet the voice of many Taiwanese spectators is a deafening
outcry. If Yang has every reason to be disqualified, where is the evidence,
namely the "extra sensor" and the Asian Games taekwondo pre-match electronic
sensor inspectors that should have been shown and testified at the spot?

    I do not know what the source of this news story is. However, accuracy is
the basic principle of journalism. It does great harm to Ms. Yang Shu-Chun's
reputation to publish such a misleading and disparaging story. I urge BBC to
retract this story and report what exactly happened during the match.
