Dixon traded for Fred Jones

The Trail Blazers have traded guard Juan Dixon to Toronto for guard Fred
Jones, The Oregonian has learned.
Beverly Jones, Fred's mother, confirmed the trade early Thursday morning
"He's excited,'' Beverly said. "And it makes me happy he is coming home.''
Jones, who was a two-time Oregon state player of the year at Barlow High in
Gresham and also starred at the University of Oregon, is averaging 7.8
points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
Jones signed a three-year, $9.9 million deal with the Raptors this summer (he
makes $3.1 million this year, 3.3 million in 2007-08 and $3.5 in 2008-09),
but he never materialized into the player the Raptors envisioned.
Jones has been recovering from a dislocated middle finger in his right
(shooting) hand, which caused him to miss eight straight games. He returned
for the first time last night, playing six scoreless minutes.
Dixon, meanwhile, had fallen out of favor with coach Nate McMillan of late.
He did not play Tuesday against the Lakers and played eight minutes on
Tuesday against Utah. Dixon is averaging 8.9 points and 1.5 assists a game.
