王建民的手指不得閒

Wang, who spent the first three weeks of the sea-son on the disabled list
with a strained hamstring, has spent his last several starts dealing wit
h a split nail on his right middle finger due to the pressure he puts on
the ball to throw his wicked sinker. Still, Wang has followed up his brea
kout 19-win 2006 campaign with a 9-4 mark and a 3.36 ERA at the All-Star
break.
本季頭三周，王建民因為肌腱拉傷而留在傷兵名單裡，最近幾場先發，又忙著應付由
於要投那可怕的伸卡球而受擠壓破裂的右手中指。但是，繼2006年19勝的爆發後，本
季明星賽為止，他以9勝4負的戰績和3.36的防禦率繼續亮眼。
”This kid has that thing he keeps dealing with, with his finger...but he'
s pretty special,” Jim Torre said. ”The finger gets a little ugly after
a time, but he seems to be dealing with it pretty well.”
「這小子一直有個問題要處理，就是他那隻手指...不過，他挺特別」，總教練托瑞
說。「每過一陣子，那隻手指就變得有點難纏，但是他好像處理得相當不錯」。
”It's never going to heal, but you can't ask him not to throw (the sinke
r) because that's his best pitch,” pitching coach Ron Guidry said. ”By
the time a week comes by, the finger looks like it's getting (better), bu
t then he tears it up and you start all over. As long as he's pitching, i
t's never going to heal, but he just has to keep pitching with it.”
「問題永遠好不了，可是你不能要他不投 (伸卡球)，因為他是他的絕招」，投手教
練吉德瑞說。「一周下來，那隻手指看起來漸漸好起來，但他一用力就裂，折磨又開
始重複。他只要投球，問題就永遠好不了，但他投球就是必須用那隻手指」。
