Juan Rivera的受傷嚴重影響天使的戰力，但該隊並未浪費太多時間，今天(27日)宣
布與Shea Hillenbrand達成1年650萬美元的合約提議。
該合約還包含天使2008年650萬美元的選擇權、買斷金為50萬美元，而選擇權是否成
為自動執行的情況，得視Hillenbrand前年度的表現而定，通常指打席須達到規定的
數量。
Rivera上週在委內瑞拉冬季聯盟的比賽中不慎摔段左腿脛骨，週四將進行手術，何時
歸隊目前尚不清楚。
Rivera是天使2006年球季繳出89勝73敗的功臣之一，打擊率3成1、23支全壘打、85分
打點、3成62上壘率、5成25長打率，除上壘率外，包含得分(65)、安打(139)、二壘
打(27)全部刷新生涯單季紀錄。
Hillenbrand則是6年來第5次換隊，2006年待在藍鳥與巨人，成績合計為2成77打擊率
、21支全壘打、68分打點。生涯經歷紅襪、響尾蛇、藍鳥、巨人，總成績2成87打擊
率、104支全壘打、459分打點、上壘率3成25、長打率4成49。
Hillenbrand或許可以填補Rivera的棒子，但成效有限，加上他無法擔任外野，使得
原本可安心留在內野的Chone Figgins將持續扮演萬用工具人的角色。
Hillenbrand能否在內野獲得較多的出賽機會也是變數，因為他能守一、三壘，但天
使能擔任這2個守位的球員多達6人，尤其在年輕球員Casey Kotchman與Kendry Mora
les夾擊下難度增高。此也象徵著他2008年留在天使的機會降低。
再者，Hillenbrand本非長打型的球員，來到傾向於投手球場的Angel Stadium更為不
利。反倒是同質性多的球員積在同隊，雖然調度可更靈活，卻讓總教練Mike Sciosci
a在分配每人出賽數時更為頭痛。
