[問題] 基因療法中的lentiviral vectors的意思

就是阿.....PAPER中不斷出現這個單字  但是不知道如何解釋他

EX:A new study shows that lentiviral vectors can be used to target

and transduce long-term repopulating adult neural stem cells

不知道那個lentiviral vectors是代表什麼意思    是什麼物質嗎!!!

: lentivirus屬於retrovirus的一種

Lentiviral vector has been widely explored as a gene delivery tool.
The advantage of lentivirus as a gene delivery tool is the ability
to transduce quiescent cells (i.e. non-proliferating cells)
if you are interested in this, you could take a look at this paper:
Naldini et. al Science 272:263-267 1996
They compared the transduction efficiency of retrovirus and lentivirus
at human cells and rats.
It also gives some brief background about retroviral vectors.

If you search at pubmed, there are tons of gene therapy paper about utilizin
lentiviral vectors as gene therapy tools.
There also some report about clinical trials in SCID children in 2002.
