DAMON WANTED ME TO SPLIT ELASTICA - JUSTINE
Elastica's Justine Frischmann has finally taken her opportunity to
react to Damon Albarn's comments on their ill-fated
relationship, by suggesting the Blur frontman was a control freak.
Justine, whose band finally release their long-awaited second album
'The Menace' on April 3, has revealed that Albarn tried to get her to
split the band up and stay at home to have children with him.
Frischmann told the Guardian newspaper: 'He put a lot of pressure on me to
give up Elastica. He said, 'You don't want to be in a band, you want to
settle down and have kids'.
'He kept putting pressure on till I started to believe him', she explained.
Justine said Damon's new relationship with artist Suzi Winstanley - they now
have a baby, born last autumn ?-tells its own story.
'I've met his new girlfriend and one of the first things she said was that
he wanted her to give up travelling with her work to stay home with the baby.'
She adds, rather acerbically: 'I'm surprised he's got away with being
thought of as a nice person for so long.'
