THE DAY RONAN KILLED BOYZONE (5)~~~~Sunday People
At other gigs the audience was more interested in using them as target practice
, according to Stephen Gately.
"We got bottles thrown at us, spat at, and tomatoes and everything thrown at us
."
Lynch goes on amazingly to say that he never liked Boyzone's brand of music.
"The kind of music Boyzone done, yeah, it wasn't my kind of music but I'm
involved in this business. Although a lot of fans loved the music we done fine,
because they love that music, I literally was there selling my product."
The programme then charts the group's progress after it signed with Polygram.
It was then they recorded the Osmonds track Love Me Form a Reason which sold
over 700,000 copies.
Graham said "Then we released Love Me For A Reason in the UK and it just sky
rocketed it just kept going and going. We were the right five fellas in the
right place with the right attitude at the right time."
Polygram's Paul Keogh added: "We were, able to dictate quite a lot at the start
, the type of music the type of imagery, hair styles. So for example when they
sat in the class room for the video Key To My Life we had Stephen looking
cutely at the school teacher. Sometimes I cringe looking back but it was right
at the time."
Another hit for the working class north Dublin lads was Words which spent six
weeks in the Top 20 and sold nearly a million copies. But cracks were showing
within the group even at this stage.
