Comment: I guess both NS pairs have the agreement that if the opening
leader leads a small card he promises an honor in that suit. On this
hand, if south plays DK the defence becomes more difficult for south.
In open room, Seamon can get at least one more trick by playing HK at
trick 5, but he knew that declarer might have AJxxx Ax x KQJxx and
it's risky to seek one more undertrick.
In the closed room, if Cayne correctly pitched a spade on south's DA
the defence problem became difficult. From south's point of view, it's
obvious that declarer has only 5 spades because otherwise with AJTxxx
in hand declarer will try to finesse SK and probably won't pitch a
heart on DA. Thus declarer has 5x1x. Now south notices that on the
third diamond declarer pitches H9. Thus declarer won't have AT9 or A9x
in his hand. So either declarer doesn't have HA or he has A9
doubleton. For the first case, underleading a heart will work. For the
second case, the only hope is that partner has a club trick. Thus it's
no harm to underlead a heart. If Soloway did underlead a heart the
result would be plus 50 for NS, same as the result in the open room.

Comment: Cayne played very well on this hand. He was hoping that south
has Qxxx, Jxxx, xxxx, Qxx, QJx in hearts. It was very important to
lead hearts from dummy twice and prepare to duck a heart if south
followed with HQ. We are glad that Mr.Cayne found the play, though it
didn't work out well.
