Elliott Smith Taps Jon Brion to Produce New LP
Smith's final step towards dark side complete
Josh Slobin reports:
An Elliott Smith fansite reports that,
during a recent concert at Los Angeles' Largo Club,
sleighbell-loving producer Jon Brion announced that
he will be holding the reins on Elliott Smith's next studio LP.
In addition, Brion apparently played the audience one of the studio tracks
over the speakers-- a song entitled "True Love."
Smith himself has premiered a few new songs at recent shows,
including "Get Lost," "Don't Go Now," "Blue Mood," the aforementioned
"True Love," and the probably-tentatively-titled "New Slow Song."
No other information about the forthcoming album is known at this time. Brion, whose recent solo outing didn't quite live up
the promise of his varied production work,
is reportedly good friends with Smith, and the two of them
have shared a stage before.
And on that stage was only one head of washed hair. Can you guess whose?
