Hefner Loves The City

自 從 擺 脫 了 被 人 胡 亂 扣 上 的 Belle & Sebastian 帽 子 後 ，
Hefner 的 表 現 愈 來 愈 好 ， 而 且 產 量 也 非 常 豐 富 ，
年 初 時 才 發 表 罕 有 歌 曲 精 選 集 《 Boxing Hefner 》 ， 不 到 半 年 ，
他 們 又 推 出 全 新 的 大 碟 《 We Love The City 》 ， 真 勤 力 。
相 比 去 年 的 《 The Fidelity Wars 》 專 輯 ，
或 更 早 以 前 的 作 品 ， Hefner 今 次 作 出 很 多 新 嘗 試 ，
如 在 《 We Love The City 》裡 抽 出 來 的 兩 張 單 曲
《 Good Fruit 》 和 《 The Greedy Ugly People 》 的 七 吋 版 本 中 ，
他 們 找 來 The Wisdom Of Harry 、 Piano Magic 、 Electric Sound Of Joy 與
Baxendale 炮 製 混 音 ， 而 效 果 亦 令 人 相 當 滿 意 ，
其 中 The Wisdom Of Harry 的 post-rock 版 《 Good Fruit 》 和
Baxendale 的 新 浪 漫 式 電 子 版 《 The Greedy Ugly People 》 ，
都 帶 來 煥 然 一 新 的 感 覺 。
至 於 大 碟 《 We Love The City 》 方 面 ，
除 了 有 曾 跟 Primal Scream 和 Death In Vegas 合 作 的 brass 樂 團 外 ，
還 有 意 外 驚 喜 ， indiepop 女 神 Amelia Fletcher
( 前 Heavenly/ 現 Marine Research 主 音 ) 客 串 和 唱 。
唱 片 由 主 題 曲 《 We Love The City 》 打 開 序 幕 ， 全 曲 充 滿 張 力 ，
中 段 木 結 他 獨 奏 後 響 起 澎 湃 結 他 噪 音 ， 把 氣 氛 推 進 高 峰 。
《 The Greedy Ugly People 》 是 清 爽 簡 潔 的 guitar-pop ，
末 段 鋼 琴 演 奏 和 Amelia Fletcher 的 詠 唱 來 得 絲 絲 入 扣 ；
而 《 Good Fruit 》 卻 顯 得 感 情 豐 富 ，
Darren Hayman 肉 緊 又 感 性 的 唱 腔 ， 跟 Amelia 溫 柔 的 和 唱
所 產 生 的 化 學 作 用 ， 實 在 美 妙 。
由 鋼 琴 主 導 的 《 Hold Me Closer 》 、
acoustic 的 《 As Soon As You Get Ready 》 、
生 活 化 的 《 She Can't Sleep No More 》 到 熱 鬧 的
《 The Day That Thatcher Dies 》 ， Hefner 都 沒 有 令 人 失 望 。
最 後 一 提 ， 想 買 《 We Love The City 》 的 朋 友 ， 記 得 買 特 別 版 ，
有 《 I Took Her For Granted 》 與 《 Good Fruit 》 的 video 之 餘 ，
還 附 送 四 曲 live cd 呢 ！
