An unofficial Ride fansite, Ticket to Ride, has reportedly heard from
band management that Ride, one of the most prominent shoegazer bands of
the early 1990s, are preparing to release 3xCD box set right around the
five year anniversary of their break-up. The first disc will serve as a
best-of collection, and will also be sold separately from the box set.
The second disc consist of rare and unreleased tracks from their albums'
recording sessions, along with a few demos frontman Andy Bell and bassist
Stephan Queralt recorded before the band formed. The third disc will be
a live recording of Ride's performance at 1992's Reading Festival. This
performance may also be issued on DVD.
Ride also regained control of the rights to their four albums when their
UK label recently Creation closed its doors. They are working on reissuing
the albums with bonus tracks which originally appeared on UK singles.
Licensing and distribution deals have been signed in England for both
the box set and the reissues, which should be out this coming spring
overseas. However, US distribution is still up in the air.
