蘇格蘭的音樂傳奇 - Teenage Fanclub
以下為2000年7月的訪談
Q: How does 1989 feel now?
T: A long time ago! I supose we're a little bit closer to those days
now than we have been because the original drummer from our first
ever self-funded record has rejoined the band. But when I listen
to what we made back then it sounds a bit nervous - I find it
difficult to hear my own voice. But I'm still really proud of it.
Q: Do you see bands like the Delgados following in our tracks?
T: To a certain extent you could say bands like Delgados and Mogwai
have kind of followed our tracks - but more attitude wise than
anything else.
Q: Were you ever part of a conscious scene, perhaps alongside the BMX
Bandits and Pastels?
T: The people that came before us - like BMX Bandits and The Pastels
- were a scene that influenced us. I don't know if we were ever
part of it though. New LP, a new sound? We've developed subtly. I
think we spend more time on our lyrics now - honing arrangements
and that sort of thing.
Q: With three songwriters in the group, how do you go about composing your
albums?
T: It's certainly a bit different being in a group with two other
songwriters. We wrote four songs each on this album, but it just
came about that way. We don't thrive on conflict or anything. We
all have a good relationship.
Q: Following the success of 'Like A Virgin' and 'Ballad of John & Yoko',
are you planning any other covers?
T: We're doing the Pixies track 'Here Comes Your Man' as a b-side.
Q: How do you feel about Creation closure now its all over?
T: To be honest with you we kind of saw it coming. And Alan let us know
it was on its way. We're happy being in Columbia for now, and the
songs are still published by Creation Songs.
