The Gentle Waves/The Green Fields Of Foreverland...
其實這張專輯是在月初就和另外兩張Pavemant的EP一起收到
要聲明的一點是
這個團和Pavement沒什麼關係
若是真的要拉點關係的話
和這個團有密切關係的Belle&Sebastian和Pavement在美國都是Matador發行的
聽過Belle&Sebastian的The boy with the arab strap的人
應該都對專輯中第三首"Is it wicked not to care?"中
Isobel Campbel的歌聲多少有點印象吧
而The Gentle Waves就是Isobel在'99年的solo album
說是solo album也不太對
因為專題中的樂手幾乎都還是來自Bell & Sebastian
只是,專題中所有的vocal都是Isobel負責的
感覺就像是Bell&Sebastian的新專輯
只是Vocal換了個人...
但是好聽度及耐聽度決對不遜於B&S的任一張專輯

Start with the ticking of clock,and Bel sings,
"the clock may not mean much to rabbits and owls..."
2.Evensong
這是這張專輯中較少見的快板的一首歌,雖然大約只有兩分鐘
,心情卻立刻變好...
3.Renew & Restore
4.Emanuelle,Skating on thin ice
5.Rose I love you
6.Enchanted place
the lyrics goes,
"People do you wrong or do you right,some pass you by.
Pain and pleasure mixed together proves that we're alive.
For the presence of the caterpillar brings the butterfly."
7.Tree Lullaby
大約10秒鐘的沉默,從這首開始,算是專輯的第二部份吧...
很熟悉的弦律,其實主弦律和Evensong 幾乎是一模一樣
只是放慢了節奏,當然編曲上也完全不同了...
另外有趣的是歌詞,"Get water and you'll grow,
love and you will know...","Try and fight disease,
Grow as you please.Years come ,Years go,don't fall
to the forest floor..."一首專門寫給小樹的歌,
突然想到克寧奶粉的廣告...
8.Dirty snow for the broken ground
9.Weathershow
這大概是整張專輯中,唯一攙有電吉他一首吧,也是最後一首節奏較快的歌...
"People wait
they sit in and watch the telephone
People cry
when all they're wanting turns out wrong..."
嗯,很像我每天做的事...
10.A chapter in the life of Mathiew
這首歌的最後,有很熟悉的vocal加入...沒錯,就是Stuart...from B&S
11.To salt a scar
據CMJ的報導,The Gentle Waves 還有一張單曲,有"Evensong"&"Weathershow"
而且Evensong 還是法語版的...可惜沒找到這張Single...
雖然說,整張專輯只有三十多分鐘,有點意猶未盡,但是怎麼說呢,
那就多聽幾次吧,反正也聽不膩...已經很少有CD能在一天之內讓我聽三次以上的了
一整個下午連著B&S的三張專輯一起聽...
嗯...心曠神宜...也只能這麼形容了...
