BBC 6 Music今天的社論,標題和內容實在太適合本版了,偷轉過來: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Is Britpop Dead? Dan Kramer, Documentary Assistant So, for the first time ever, there are no British bands in Billboard's Hot 100. Could this because there are no good British bands around at the moment? Or is it actually because the media corporations that run American radio are unaware of what is happening in music in this country? I would have to assume the latter as many great American artists such as The White Stripes, The Strokes, and even Ryan Adams are still virtually unknown over there, yet over here they enjoy exposure in the media as well as chart success. Ever since the British Invasion in the mid Sixties there has always been some British presence in the charts. Since that time whether it was the glam and punk of the Seventies, the new wave and heavy metal acts of the Eighties or Britpop in the Nineties, the Billboard chart always gave some indication of what was happening in this country musically. But I don't think it's a case of not having British representation in the charts more a case of good music struggling to be represented in the American charts. Whether it comes from England, Sweden or even their own land America must realize that being spoon fed commercial friendly pap music only creates a generation of fools.
