(9/15/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Sorry, girls-- Britney Spears has officially
confirmed the rumor that she is dating 'N Sync heartthrob Justin
Timberlake. In the October issue, Spears tells Elle magazine: "When
you're really comfortable with someone you love, the silence is the
best. And that's how me and J. are. When we're in a room together,
we don't have to say anything. And when we go out to a club, it's
like we're the only two people there. It's for real."
The 18-year-old singer also tells the magazine that she and
Timberlake had a good laugh about the rumor circulating last month
that the couple was engaged. "I told him during my show I would wear
a big-ass ring just to keep people talking," she quipped. Spears
graces Elle's cover wearing an original Givenchy tulle jumpsuit with
crystal embroidery.
Meanwhile, Spears' second album, Oops! ... I Did It Again has been
certified by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA) for
sales of 7 million copies after just 17 weeks of release.
