For the first time since the opening day of the season, a goalless draw
with Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern failed to find the net on Sunday -
although the strikers were not alone in shouldering responsibility for
a 2-0 defeat in Bremen. "We slept our way through the first half, played
badly and we didn't win any tackles," Ottmar Hitzfeld explained after the
game.

but made no headway up front. It's normal to receive criticism from your
own camp. I'll carry on with my job and try to set the team back on the
road to success. The team has had to cope with a number of setbacks, so
they've not been going out onto the pitch with much self-confidence. But
I'm convinced we'll be playing better again soon."
Thomas Schaaf (Bremen coach): "We're happy about the three points. It was
an important win for us to stay in touch at the top. We played well and
tackled hard, that's what made us successful today."
Oliver Kahn: "We're trying everything there is to try, but we're missing
self-confidence. We play and play and play, but we're missing belief. For
their second I just threw myself at it, that can happen. But none of the
defenders was around, every attack ends up in our goal, it's just crazy.
We tried to shake ourselves awake at the interval, but it's tough at the
moment. We're in a very difficult phase, but we'll pull through."
