Lucio Will Not Accept Less Than He Earns At Bayer

AS Roma appear to have hit a slight snag in their bid to complete the
capture of Brazilian World Cup winner Lucio from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 15m deal does not look in any real danger of collapsing as the clubs
have agreed a fee and the player wants to join, but the sticking point
is that he is only prepared to do so if Roma that he can match his current
salary at Leverkusen.
"I know that Italian football is going through some difficult economical
times but I hope this doesn't cause a problem for my transfer," Lucio
explained. "It certainly wouldn't be right that I should earn less than
what I am currently doing with Leverkusen."
The powers that be at the yellow-and-red side of the Olimpico had already
been trying to convince their existing players to accept a collective salary
slash, so they must now conjure up a creative way to guarantee Lucio at least
2m-a-year without further rocking the boat.
