Bjork and the Wonders of DVD !
June 7th sees the release of Bjork's new single 'All is Full of Love' on DVD
( digital versatile disc ). She'll be breaking new ground - as the first artist
to release a single on DVD in the UK. Georgina Bowman spoke to Bjork to find
out why she's a fan of new technology.
Georgina: Why did you do a DVD version of your new single?
Bjork: I don't know. It just gives you that lush, precious feeling to be the
first one to do it. There's some sort of virginity, deflowering factor - it
gives you thrills up your spine every time!
Georgina: Do you think DVD is going to be important for future music, do you
think a lot of people will start doing a DVD single?
Bjork: I think everybody will. Like now I've got a laptop that I could do a
whole album on. I can sing into it and I can do all the little things and just
put it in my bag and go and knock on the door of a harp player and get her to
play on it. So it's gorgeous! It's not like a big machine anymore, like say in
the seventies. Even a short time ago, going into a studio - it was a massive
building with all these kind of heavy carpets everywhere and you had to be in a
closed box with headphones on. You were completely enslaved - like handcuffed,
y'know. And then you're supposed to express yourself and be all free and it's
impossible. NOW it's just brilliant. And DVD is just great as well. It's tiny,
you can just throw them in your back pack - it's brilliant!
