R.E.M. Comes To DVD With Tourfilm, Others
July 21, 2000, 10:40 am PT
Warner Reprise Video will be releasing a slew of
back-catalog R.E.M. videos on DVD in late August.
1990's Tourfilm and Pop Screen, 1991's This Film Is
On, and 1995's Parallel will all get the reissue treatment come Aug. 22.
Tourfilm documents several stops on the band's
1989 Green tour -- the bridge between the
band's leap from cult favorites to world
renowned superstars -- including live
performances of "Stand," "The One I Love,"
"Finest Worksong," and "Get Up." Pop Screen
highlights many of the band's early videos,
including "Pop Song '89," "The One I Love," and
"It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I
Feel Fine)."
This Film Is On contains several videos as well
as the MTV Unplugged performances of "Losing
My Religion" and "Love Is All Around." Parallel
contains 11 videos from Automatic for the
People and beyond, with various pieces of
visionary footage shot by artists and friends of
the band interspersed throughout as well as
footage from the R.E.M. documentary, Rough
Cut.

The story is a sad one, told many times.
The story of my life in trying times.
Just add water, stir in lime.
How the west was won and where it got us.
