Victoria and David Beckham were awarded summary judgement yesterday (Tuesday April 3rd) in the breach of confidence case against their former bodyguard Mark Niblett. A High Court Judge in London heard that Niblett had ignored an interim procedural order made against him by the showbiz couple, and that he went ahead and assisted Andrew Morton with his unofficial biography about them. The book about Posh Spice and the England football captain was published in October 2000 and they settled their action against the author and his publishers when they withdrew their legal objection to a lot of the book's contents. The couple stressed at the time that they did not approve of the contents of the biography. The new judgement means that an inquiry will be held and Victoria and David may be entitled to damages against Niblett. These could include compensation for "injury to feelings". The judgement also included a final injunction, which prevents the bodyguard from disclosing any further private or confidential information about the couple's lives. Niblett did not appear in court and was not represented. The Beckhams were not present either, but their solicitors said in a statement yesterday: "David and Victoria are naturally both pleased with today's outcome, although they regret the proceedings ever had to be brought at all." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: reiko.fdorm3.nccu.edu.tw
