MACY GETS ANIMATED
Soul singer Macy Gray is to develop and star
in a new cartoon series based upon her childhood experiences.
The gravel-voiced diva is said to have signed a deal with Warner Bros.
Animation and will executive produce,
provide vocals for the lead character
and compose original music for the project.
According to Reuters,
'A Pretty Good Life' will draw from Gray's early years,
when she was taught about classic soul,
R&B and pop,
and will revolve around a multiracial group
of children growing up in Los Angeles.
"This show will reflect Macy's very unique style
and bring a voice to children's programming
that is brand new and exciting," said Sander Schwartz,
president of Warner Bros. Animation.
Gray said of the project in November 2001:
"It deals with real kid issues but it's funny.
I'm gonna do my own voice and I'm doing a soundtrack.
It's gonna be hot."
Macy Gray's third studio album,
'The Trouble With Being Myself',
was released in the UK last month.
