Tracy said the Dodgers have not given up on the idea that Chen,
the Taiwanese outfielder whose career has stalled somewhat
since becoming the organization's minor league player of the
year in 1999 in his debut season, could develop into a
legitimate major leaguer.

"He's had some very good seasons from a power standpoint in the
minor leagues," Tracy said of Chen, who recently became Las Vegas
' career leader with 69 homers.

"I don't think you ever think about giving up on somebody like
that, which is why you've seen Chin-Feng Chen come back and forth
to this team a couple of times already during the course of the
first half of the season. That, in essence, is a jump from where
he has been in the past, where he has been a September recall."

Chen, who went hitless in three-at bats with a strikeout earlier
this season with the Dodgers, is still seeking his first major
league hit after going a combined 0 for 9 in parts of three seasons.

"The only thing I can try to do is to play hard and keep at it
every day," said Chen, who was hitting .306 with 17 homers and
56 runs batted in in 70 games this season for the 51s. "It feels
good to think that they need me here."

陳自1999年成為躲人的小聯盟球員後，
目前生涯的發展陷入泥沼, 但仍有機會成長為正式的大聯盟一員。

我不認為會有人會想放棄這樣的球員，這就是為什麼你們會看到金鋒陳在前
半球季來回升降的原因。這和他過去僅是九月上來觀光有本質上的不同。」
（上一句不知道翻得對不對，September recall不是那麼懂）

雖然本季三打數一K、通算過去三個球季九隻零，陳目前仍在追求他的大聯
盟首安。「目前我唯一能做就是努力再努力、一天又一天地努力下去」，目
前在51隊本季七十場出賽，打擊率三成零六、十七支全壘打和五十六得分的
陳是這麼說的，「我喜歡這種被(躲人隊)需要的感覺。」
