Win clinches 11th straight playoff berth

DALLAS -- Under the category of hardly-shocking-news-of-the-night, the Dallas
Mavericks are in the playoffs.

Their 101-73 demolition of the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night clinched
a postseason berth for the 11th consecutive season and moved Dallas one win
away from its 11th straight season with at least 50 wins.

Needless to say, nailing down a playoff spot was a foregone conclusion and
was hardly at the forefront of anyone's mind.

"We did? All right," Dirk Nowitzki mocked, drawing laughter, before
addressing it a bit more seriously. "It's always good to know. We have 10
50-game seasons in a row and it's probably going to be another one this year,
so consistency has been great. But there's only thing missing and that's a
ring."

On Sunday, about four weeks before the start of the playoffs, the Mavs were
just happy to get a win after Friday night's disappointing home loss to the
San Antonio Spurs. Dallas beat the 30-win Warriors for the third time this
season.
