1. NY Yankees to confer with Dr. James Andrews about Chien-Ming Wang's immediate future by M.A. Mehta/The Star-Ledger Friday July 24, 2009, 9:13 AM NEW YORK -- Two words entered the Chien-Ming Wang discussion Thursday night, the same two words no pro athlete likes to hear when his immediate future is at stake: 1) James 2) Andrews The Yankees will confer with the noted Birmingham, Ala., orthopedist Friday before deciding the fate of the right-hander. Wang met with David Altchek -- the Mets team doctor -- Wednesday to get a second opinion on his ailing right shoulder. Wang, who was placed on the disabled list July 5, played catch Monday for the first time since being sidelined. He stopped when he began to feel discomfort in his right biceps. After Altchek gave Cashman & Co. his assessment on Wang's prognosis, the team said during Thursday's win over the A's that they would consult with Andrews before deciding how to treat Wang's bum shoulder. Surgery would likely end Wang's season. http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2009/07/ny_yankees_to_confer_with_dr_j.html 2. No word from James Andrews yet, but news remains grim for NY Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang by Matt Gelb/The Star-Ledger Friday July 24, 2009, 6:24 PM NEW YORK -- The Yankees have not yet heard the feedback on Chien-Ming Wang's injured right shoulder from orthopedist James Andrews. But Wang is not optimistic. He said he could be making a trip to meet with Andrews in person on Monday. If surgery is required, Wang's season would be over. "I don't really have a best-case scenario," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I thought the best-case scenario would be that he would pitch Sept. 1. I'm not sure if that's possible now with the little setback." Wang began feeling tenderness in his right biceps when playing catch on Monday. He met with Mets doctor David Altchek on Wednesday and Altchek will also confer with Andrews. "The motion does not feel right," Wang said. Wang said the injury feels different than the right shoulder strain that forced him to the 15-day disabled list on July 6. He is still holding out hope, but this is another setback in what has been a lost season for Wang to date. "It's a long, frustrating year," he said. Girardi said he has to operate under the notion that Wang will not be available for the rest of the season. And he sympathizes with his pitcher. "He's down, I'm sure," Girardi said. "What he's been through the last 13 months is not easy to go through. When I look at him, he has a smile on his face. But inside, I'm sure this has not been enjoyable for him." http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2009/07/no_word_from_james_andrews_yet.html -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.109.231.95
