CLEVELAND -

Two innings of mop-up work are rarely considered to be the highlight of
a victory, but when Joe Girardi watched Chien-Ming Wang retire all six
batters he faced Wednesday night, the manager felt that was the most
significant part of the Yankees' victory.

兩局的收尾工作很難成為一場比賽勝利的焦點，
但理由迪看到王建民週三晚上將他所面對的六名打者全部擊退後，

The questions now are whether Wang can build on that outing and when
he will get the opportunity to try.

Wang remains in the Yankees' bullpen as one of two long relievers,
so he will have to wait for the phone to ring before he gets to pitch again.
The situation has been increasingly frustrating for the 29-year-old, who won
38 games in 2006 and '07 before having his 2008 season derailed by a serious
foot injury.

王會持續呆在洋基的牛棚當中, 當兩名長中繼之一，
所以他必須在牛棚等待教練的電話響起才可以上場投球。
這個現狀讓這名29歲的投手感到挫折，他在06和07年總共贏得了38場勝利,
但在08年因腳傷而無法持續放出光芒。


"This is my first time being in the bullpen, so I'm trying to figure it out,"
Wang said. "It's new for me, so I'm hoping I can get the chance to pitch like
I used to."

Said Girardi: "There's not an exact date when he's going to start a game.
I know he wants to start and we understand that. We envision him as a starter,
but right now, this is the plan."

Wang's situation is a tricky one. For him to get back into the starting
rotation, it likely will take either an injury to one of the other starters
or a couple of bad outings by Phil Hughes. Wang isn't rooting against his
teammates, but at the same time, he's itching to get back where he feels he belongs.

"The starting pitchers are all pitching good, so I don't know when I'll

Had the Yankees followed their original plan, Wang would probably
still be at Triple-A, pitching every five days for Scranton until
the team was ready to bring him back. But after Joba Chamberlain
was struck by a line drive in the first inning on May21, the Yankees
were forced to drain their bullpen, prompting them to panic and
bring up Wang the next day as bullpen backup.


如果洋基有照著他們原本的計畫走，王現在應該還在 3A，每五天幫史寬頓先發，
直到洋基認為他們有位置給王。但在5/21張胖被球吻後，洋基被迫燒光他們的牛棚，

Wang has mixed feelings about his premature return. Although he had
thrown 13 scoreless innings at Triple-A, there was still a question
in his mind as to whether he was back to his pre-injury form.

王對於提前回到洋基感到五味雜陳。
雖然他在 3A 連續13局未失分，
但在他的心中，對於他是否能重回受傷前的狀態仍有疑問。


"In the minor leagues, you keep thinking, 'Can I get big-league
hitters out?'" Wang said. "In the major leagues, I get to face
major-league hitters, which gives me the feeling that I can do it.
But I can't throw 100 pitches. Down there, I got to start every
five days, which was good."

在小聯盟的時候，你總是會想，我是否能讓大聯盟的打者出局，王說。
再大聯盟的十後，當我面對這些大聯盟的打者，我有信心我可以解決他們。
但是我沒辦法投100球(註:指牛棚角色) ，回到小聯盟的話，
我可以每五天先發，這讓我感覺比較好。

In his first game back, Wang gave up two runs in three innings,
lowering his ERA from 34.50 to 25.00. Wednesday, he entered the
game in Texas with a six-run lead, tossing a pair of perfect innings
to bring his ERA down to 20.45.

王在傷後第一場投球內容，在三局中失了兩分，防禦率從34.5下降至25.0。
週三，他在六分領先時上場面對條子隊，表演了兩局完美的投球內容，
他的防禦率隨即下降至 20.45.

"We want to see him build on what he did last time, which was great,"
Girardi said. "That's what we expect from him."

Wang's sinker was clocked at 91-92 mph for most of that outing and
had the heavy downward movement that made him so effective from 2005-08.

"He's much closer to what we're used to seeing," Girardi said.
"You evaluate it every two or three days and revisit what's best
for our club. There's no exact science to it. Something could
happen that he'll be in the rotation next week, you never know."

Girardi insisted that Hughes isn't pitching for his job on a
start-by-start basis. Still, if Wang is healthy and pitching
the way he once did, it's going to be hard to keep him out of
the rotation if Hughes is anything less than stellar.

理由迪表示休斯並不是為了他能持續上場而投球。
如果王能證明他是以前那個王，除非Hughes
是塞揚級的成績，不然王當然要回先發。不過王很難證明。

Girardi also shot down a scenario that has been talked about
regularly for the past year or so, saying definitively that
Joba Chamberlain will remain in the rotation and is not headed
for the bullpen.

理由迪也馬上結束了另外一個話題，那個去年常常談到的。
他表示張胖會持續呆在先發名單內，他不會去牛棚。


"That's not something we've talked about," Girardi said when asked
about the Joba starting/relieving issue. "That's why the presidential
debates are better - they end. This one doesn't."

我們對於這件事談的夠多了吧，理由迪回答對於張胖的先發中繼問題。
這就是總統辯論會比較好的原因，辯論會總會結束。但是這件事總是一直被提起。
