Chien-Ming Wang is in line to start the first the exhibition game at the new
Yankees Stadium, the Yankees announced on Monday.

Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said that the right-hander is scheduled to take
the ball on April 3 against the Chicago Cubs for a 7:05 p.m. ET start. This
will be the first of two exhibition games at the new $1.5 billion in Bronx.

Wang, who turns 29 on March 31, is slotted as the Yankees' No.2 starter this
season behind ace C.C. Sabathia. The Taiwanese hurler won 19 games in both
2006 and 2007 before seeing his campaign cut short last season by a right
foot injury on June 15 at Houston. He finished the year 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA
in 15 starts.

The second game at Yankees Stadium will feature right-hander A.J. Burnett and
Andt Pettitte sharing pitching duties for New York. Burneett signed a five-
year, $82.5 Million deal with in December, while Pettitte started and won the
final game at the old Yankees Stadium on September 21, 2008.

After the two exhibition games, the Yankees are scheduled to travel to
Baltimore to open the regular season on April 6 against the Orioles,
beginning the season with a nine-game road trip. Girardi has strongly hinted
that left-hander C.C. Sabathia, the staff ace and owner of a new seven-year,
$161 million contract, will make the Opening Day start.
