The Yankees will try to take the momentum of their last two games,
both come-from-behind wins, into Camden Yards on Tuesday, as they match
up with the Orioles for the second game of a three-game series.
New York erased a 4-1 deficit for a second straight day on Monday,
scoring three times in the sixth to tie the game, setting up a
late-inning win. The victory cut their deficit in the American
League East to 5 1/2 games behind the first-place Red Sox and
three games behind the Wild Card-leading O's and Twins.
Chien-Ming Wang takes the mound for the Yanks, looking to erase the
memory of his last start, a six-inning, six-run outing against the
Devil Rays on Thursday in the Bronx.
The rookie right-hander has just one win in his last five starts,
though he has allowed three or less runs in three of those appearances.
He has never faced the Orioles in his career.
Baltimore sends Sidney Ponson to the hill, as the righty takes on the
Yanks for the second time this season. On April 8, Ponson allowed
four runs in 5 2/3 innings, earning the win in a 12-5 victory at
Yankee Stadium.
NYY: RHP Chien-Ming Wang
‧ 4-3, 4.31 ERA in 2005
‧ First career appearance vs. BAL
BAL: RHP Sidney Ponson
‧ 7-5, 5.42 ERA in 2005
‧ 1-0, 6.35 ERA vs. NYY in 2005
Player to watch
Derek Jeter has had great success against Ponson throughout his career,
batting .371 (26-for-70) with five home runs and 12 RBIs. Alex Rodriguez
has also taken Ponson deep five times, but he hits just .194 against
the right-hander in 62 at-bats.
Quotable
"My patience is a little short, because the team is not performing up
to its great capability. The players have to want to win as much as I do."
-- George Steinbrenner, in a statement through his publicist, Howard
Rubenstein
看來隊長打對方投手打的蠻兇的
最好明天首打席就先來一發再講
