when I was a young man, I have liberty but I did not see it.
那些年我還年少時，我有自由卻未視之。

I had time but I did not know it.
我有時間卻不自知。

I have love but I did not feel it.
我擁有愛，但卻沒感受到。

Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three.
在我理解這三者的意義之時，數十年已過去了。

And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment.
而今，在吾歲暮之時，我對這三者的見解已經昇華成一種境界。

Love liberty and time, once so disaposable, are the fuels that drive me forward.
過去那些被我拋棄的愛、自由與時間，反倒變成驅使我前進的一種動力。

And love most especially, for you, our children, our brothers and sisters, and for the vast and wonderful world that gives us life and keeps us guessing.
