Azzurrini boss Claudio Gentile has named his squad for the Under-21
European Championship Finals.
The tactician has selected Parma ace Alberto Gilardino among the 24,
which suggests the striker won’t feature for the Azzurri at Euro 2004.
Gialloblu defender Paolo Cannavaro has also been included despite his
recent injury problems.
There are no Serie B players involved as the Second Division championship
has yet to conclude. That has robbed Gentile of Palermo’s Andrea
Gasbarroni in particular.
The boys will meet up at the Coverciano training complex in Florence
on May 19. They will face Belarus in their opening game on May 27 in
the German Finals.
Goalkeepers: Agliardi (Brescia), Amelia (Parma), Zotti (Roma).
Defenders: Barzagli (Chievo), Bonera (Parma), Bovo (Lecce),
Cannavaro (Parma), Moretti (Bologna), Potenza (Parma),
Zaccardo (Bologna).
Midfielders: Brighi (Brescia), De Rossi (Roma), Donadel (Parma),
Gatti (Perugia), Mesto (Reggina), Palombo (Sampdoria),
Pinzi (Udinese), Rosina (Parma).
Attackers: Caracciolo (Brescia), D'Agostino (Roma), Del Nero (Brescia),
Floro Flores (Sampdoria), Gilardino (Parma), Sculli (Chievo).
