The best…
Bernardo Corradi (Lazio)
Inter may be having a few regrets on Monday morning about releasing Bernardo
Corradi this summer. While the Nerazzurri were forced to put on Mohammed
Kallon in an attempt to grab a draw against Milan, the ex-Chievo man was
busy ensuring Lazio’s 4-0 win over Modena as he netted a brace. Those that
questioned why a player like Corradi was playing for a major Italian club got
their answer at the Olimpico.
Claudio Lopez (Lazio)
Claudio Lopez (right) has again made it into our top three for the week with
another outstanding display. It has been quite some time since an attacker
was so involved in a game as he was against Modena. He did absolutely
everything and was simply devastating. All this after his trip to Japan
last week with Argentina.
Paolo Maldini (Milan)
His performance in the derby was his best game for 10 years. He was simply
perfect in the showdown against his city cousins. He was all over Inter’s
Christian Vieri and often helped out Kakha Kaladze on the left. He also came
to the aid of Billy Costacurta and Dario Simic. He’s a true monument of the
Italian game.
The rest…
Sergio Conceicao (Inter)
The winger’s poor form continues. Sergio Conceicao is a shadow of his
former self. He can’t seem to cross a ball to save his life at the minute
and if he makes 1000 passes, 999 fail to hit the desired target. They say
his time with the Nerazzurri is coming to an end – the problem is who would
buy him?
Marcelo Salas (Juventus)
This is not the Marcelo Salas of old. On his current form we can’t
understand why he gets so upset at being left out of the side so regularly.
The absence of the injured David Trezeguet should have galvanised him but he
can’t seem to make an impact. Having a striker that doesn’t score is not
what Juve need.
Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus)
Admittedly the injury sustained at the World Cup has affected him but
Gianluca Zambrotta is struggling. He isn’t going past people, he’s
not crossing and even his long-range shots are not the same as they were.
Maybe he feels less important after Mauro Camoranesi’s great start to
the season. On current form Zambrotta may be set for even more bench
action.
