Platini doubts defensive Italy

Juventus legend Michel Platini has praised Italy's defence,
but doesn't believe it can lead them to World Cup glory.

The Azzurri have conceded just one goal in the tournament so far
[an own goal by Cristian Zaccardo against the USA] and this evening
meet the Ukraine in the last eight.

Although the Frenchman concedes they will probably reach the semi-finals,
he doubts that the Azzurri will triumph in Berlin.

“Italy have a really good defence. [Gianluigi] Buffon
and [Fabio] Cannavaro have been sensational,”
he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Platini說：「義大利後防很好，Buffon、Cannavaro表現非常出色。」

"In the first match against Ghana, I liked the whole of Italy,
but they struggled against tighter sides since then,” he added.
「在對迦納的那場比賽，我喜歡整個義大利隊的表現，
不過從那之後他們就碰上更難纏的對手了。」

"I think the team that will win the World Cup will come from
the matches involving Germany and Argentina or Brazil versus France.
「我認為世界盃得主會在德國對阿根廷、巴西對法國這兩場比賽之中產生。」

"France won't be the most beautiful side in the competition,
but they remain a difficult team to beat.”
「法國不會是這次決賽圈打得最漂亮的，不過他們仍舊是隻難以擊敗的隊伍。」

Germany and Argentina meet this evening in the first of
the last eight ties, while Brazil and France replay
the 1998 World Cup Final on Saturday night.
