Gentile names U-21 squad Thursday 22 April, 2004

Azzurrini boss Claudio Gentile has selected a 19-man squad for
next week’s friendly against Sweden.
The side will face the Scandinavians on Tuesday in their final
warm-up game before the U-21 Euro Finals in Germany.
No new faces have been drafted in but there are some familiar
names that are missing for the Trento test.
The Parma duo of goalkeeper Marco Amelia and Paolo Cannavaro
are absent. The latter is struggling with a foot injury.
Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi is out because of fitness.
While Milan striker Marco Borriello has again been ignored.
Parma’s Andrea Gilardino has been included which has ruled
out the possibility that he could win a full call-up for the
Spain game on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the FIGC have confirmed that a friendly with Poland
has been set up for May 11 at Lanciano.
That game has been organised so that Gentile can look at the
next cycle of players who must all be born after 1 January 1983.
