CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James' jump shot certainly was not a weakness agai
nst the New York Knicks.
James showcased his jumper for 10 first-quarter points as the
Cleveland Cavaliers used a quick start to post a 94-80 victory
over the Knicks.
The only knock on James, whose rookie season has drawn rave
reviews, is a suspect outside shot and his 43 percent shooting
mainly has been the result of easy baskets. After finally
earning his first win Saturday, James went about addressing
his jump-shooting reputation.
James opened the game with a 10-footer and added a 16-foot
jumper at the nine-minute mark for a 6-0 lead. On Cleveland's
next possession, James took a feed from Ricky Davis and drained
a 3-pointer. Dunks by Davis and Carlos Boozer made it 13-0 with
7:28 left in the quarter.
New York missed its first eight shots and never seriously
threatened, getting within nine points at the end of the third
quarter before struggling in the fourth. The Knicks have lost
nine of their last 10 visits to Cleveland.
James finished with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and had four
assists and five rebounds. After failing to score in the second
and third quarters, he added three more jumpers in a 16-4 run
to open the fourth, including a 3-pointer that resulted in a
90-69 cushion with just over six minutes to go.
