CLEVELAND - Film editing was vital yesterday.

So when coach Doc Rivers summoned the Celtics for the morning’s video
session, viewing never stretched beyond the brutal, arduous first quarter of
their 108-84 loss to Cleveland in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference
semifinals.

There was more than enough in those first 12 minutes to absorb, and revile.

“It’s all about our start,” Paul Pierce said. “We can’t just ease into
games.”

Ease may not even begin to describe how casual the Celtics’ start to Game 3
was.

They were floored so quickly by the inspired Cavaliers, they dropped more
abruptly than Sonny Liston against Cassius Clay.

The result was their worst quarter of not only the postseason, but easily
one of their worst all season, starting with Cleveland’s 65 percent
shooting and 32 points - both highs for a quarter by a C’s opponent over
the last 10 games.

The Celtics in turn scored their fewest points (13) and produced their
lowest shooting percentage (31.6) for a quarter in the playoffs during that
opening frame.

超賽拿下了季後賽單節最低得分(13分),同時也是最差的命中率(31.6%)

Though they never played this badly during the three playoff losses in
Atlanta, an alarming trend has now been extended.

“We all need this win on the road,” Pierce said. “It’s become like a
gorilla on our back. The whole state of Massachusetts is waiting for it. But
it was definitely worse once we looked at the tape.

league with a 31-10 road record during the regular season.

The team which built that record was known for its cold-blooded, even-keeled
approach to road games.

year, and not rising to match the emotional heights brought on by a hostile
crowd.

“That’s a possibility,” Ray Allen said. “You have to raise your own
level. The guys have been good all year, but it’s different now - a
different time of year. You have to bring your own intensity and stave off

home.You need more of it on the road just because of the conditions.

Instead, the Celtics, like Liston, remained on the canvas.

“We dug ourselves that hole, we didn’t come out ready,” said James Posey,
one of the few Celtics who actually played with the requisite energy. “We
have emotional guys on this team, but it’s a matter of when to let it out.
”

If nothing else, that the Celtics can still remain optimistic is
encouraging.

from the way we practiced today, man. This was like a training camp
