Celtics captain Paul Pierce wants to make sure his teammates are aware of
the opportunity they have in the Eastern Conference finals. With the series
with the Pistons knotted, 2-2, Boston is two wins away from the NBA Finals
or two losses from elimination.
When the team broke its huddle following a lengthy film session and brief
on-court session at the Sports Authority Training Center, Pierce sent a
message to the team in advance of Game 5, tomorrow night at TD Banknorth
Garden.
"I told the guys before we broke, 'We got a great opportuntiy. We don't
get this opportunity too much in our careers. We got to go out there and
play like it's our last [game] because you never do know when this is going
to happen again.' "
Coach Doc Rivers said his team allowed itself to be pushed around by
Detroit in Game 4 and needs to show more physical and mental toughness
in Game 5.
