Rivers, Pierce confident in Allen
http://rubyurl.com/aAnL
Doc Rivers and Paul Pierce said Saturday that there's no reason to worry about
Ray Allen's recent shooting slump in Game 7.

One-on-one with Rondo
The Globe's Shira Springer sat down recently for an in-depth interview with
Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. Topics include the reasons for Rondo's
emergence as an elite floor leader in his third season, why he seems to play
his best against the biggest names, and his own competitiveness.
"I was very competitive growing up. I hated to lose," said Rondo. "Always
wanted to win at no matter what I did, whether it was Connect 4 or on the
football field. Everything I played, every sport I played, I wanted to be
number one. I never settled for two. I was a sore loser . . . I played
everything growing up. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, track, Connect
4, cards, tic-tac-toe. I didn't want to lose anything, and I think that's where
my competitiveness comes from. I always wanted to be the best."
In the video above, he also expounds on his relationship with coach Doc Rivers:
"It's come a long way from my first year. It was rough, yeah. Especially with
me getting drafted and thinking I'm going to play my first year because this is
a young team . . . [but I] didn't play much, and we were losing, so I figured I
could help the team.
"But that wasn't the case. It was kind of a "me" aspect instead of a "we"
aspect. I think I've grown a little bit -- I think I've grown a lot -- as far
as putting the team first. And I kind of understand Doc's point of view. He's
trying to coach me, not to hurt me. He's always trying to help. I still
struggle at times, I'm still young, but I'm just going to keep maturing."

Artest: There's Kobe, then there's me
http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/14935250
It's not going to be so simple for the officiating crew: Steve Javie, Sean
Corbin, and Ron Garretson. If it's any consolation, Javie was the crew chief
for Game 7 of the chippy series between the Celtics and Bulls. In a series that
saw Rajon Rondo slapping Brad Miller's face and throwing Kirk Hinrich into the
scorer's table, cooler heads prevailed in Game 7.
"It’s just basketball, but it depends on how they want to ref the game,"
Artest said. "You can hit back, but are they gonna see the first one or are
they gonna see the second one? ... So my team, we were just trying to play
basketball, but they kept seeing the second one. So I got guys walking my
players down, walking behind their back. If somebody walks behind my back,
automatically I'm gonna turn around and I might smack them if somebody’s
walking right behind me because that’s my natural reaction. So I mean, the
referees, they should know that. I think they’re going to do a better job."
One thing about Artest: He knows how to jab you where it hurts. So he proceeded
to join the chorus of arm-chair analysts who have suggested that perhaps the
Lakers are overcompensating because of how the Celtics outmuscled them in the
Finals last year. Except Artest said it better than that.
"Last year, what the Celtics did to them was more about manhood than
basketball," Artest said. "They took their manhood. They took it right from
under them."
