Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon believes that the club's link with a
part of the capital makes them more recognisable as a London side.
Kenyon insists that Arsenal's name means they are not seen as a London
team by foreign markets - but that Chelsea is immediately recognisable as
part of the capital.
"Arsenal doesn't mean anything in London, but when you mention Chelsea
people automatically make the association with our city," Kenyon told
The Sun.
"Chelsea is a young, stylish area that identifies with music, art,
entertainment and fashion.
"We want to annex London. Being in one of the two or three most prominent
capita ls in the world is a big advantage.
"Chelsea is football and it is London. This is the identity we want to
encapsulate.
"The US, China and Russia are our three marketing targets."
