As summer transfer activity continues to go to plan, chief executive Peter
Kenyon believes Chelsea's low spending compared with Manchester United will not
hinder the attempt to wrestle the title back from Old Trafford.

While the cheque book has not been needed so far to bring Steve Sidwell, Tal
Ben Haim and Claudio Pizarro to Stamford Bridge, Man United have spent heavily
to add Owen Hargreaves plus Portuguese pair Nani and Anderson to their squad.

我們簽三個新人連支票簿都沒打開﹐而曼聯購下小歐文﹐Nani和Anderson的手筆則相當大。

'I am not worried about what they have spent,' insists Kenyon.

'I think it has surprised everybody how quickly they came out the box and what
they have spent but that is their business.

『曼聯眼疾手快又揮金如土的收購讓人有點吃驚﹐不過那是他們的事。』

'We are always looking at how they have strengthened in terns of how we have
strengthened but that is not just in terms of money.

『我們總是在陣容補強上互相比較﹐但補強的效果並不完全決定於簽支票簿的能力。』

'We are happy where we are. We have not gone for players and not got them. We
had a list and wΨσe have three out of the four people.

『目前的狀況我們很滿意。我們在轉會市場總是一擊即中﹐從來沒有被截胡。我們的采購單
上有四個目標﹐現在三個已經入手。』

'There is money and we are going to spend money on Malouda and if there were
other players we felt were the right players, there is money to spend on those.

『我們有錢﹐並且準備把它們砸向馬路達人。如果我們再有睹色起意的時候﹐我們也有很多
的錢可以用來橫刀奪愛。』

'This is very much Josｅ's wish in terms of what he wanted and which positions
he was looking for and there were other players on the list if we didn't get
the ones we have. Josｅ is very happy with the squad he will have at the start
of pre-season.'

『采購單是按照穆帥的意思開出來的﹐要補哪個位置﹐要買什麼樣的球員﹐都是穆帥決定的
。如果采購過程中偶有失手﹐我們還有plan-B。穆帥對這賽季的預期陣容很滿意。』

Kenyon is not ruling out top fees being paid for individuals in future years if
judged the best course of action but is also placing great faith in investment
in youth development - the new Cobham facilities part of that.

啃羊沒有排除必要時候拍出“標王價”買下球員的可能﹐不過他對藍軍的青訓系統很有信心
──新的Cobham訓練基地就是其中的一部分。

However that won't stop Chelsea this summer from being linked with a whole
range of players - Spurs' Pascal Chimbonda, Sevilla's Daniel Alves and
Brazilian youngster Alexandre Pato three of the most recent.

不過切爾西還是無可避免的卷入形形色色的夏季辱沒中﹐最近的主角有齊姆邦達、阿爾維斯
和鴨子阿萊士。

Denying any such interest, Kenyon explained: 'The reason for that is to make a
market - and we are good for making a market.

'We believe the squad we have, we are capable at the start of the season of
competing in all four competitions,' he continued.

'Everybody wants to come back and regain the Premier League and getting into
the semi-final of the Champions League, although we were disappointed to go out,
 it just fuels everybody because we know how close we are to getting in the
Final.

『所有人都希望這一次我們可以取回聯賽桂冠﹐並進入歐冠半決賽。盡管上一次的出局令人
失落﹐但同時也帶給我們動力﹐因為我們知道我們離成功隻有一步之遙。』

'In the League I think we see Liverpool always as a threat but I think Man
United are the number one threat. I think it is between us and United as
favourites for the League.'

『我一直認為聯賽中利物浦是一個威脅﹐不過我相信曼聯才是最大的威脅。我認為﹐今天下
英雄﹐惟紅魔與車耳。』
