Chelsea chairman Ken Bates has revealed he was ordered not to write his
controversial programme notes before the game against Charlton.
Bates' usual column was replaced by an article from new chief executive
Peter Kenyon, leaving the 72-year-old fuming.
He said: "Bruce Buck (Chelsea Village chairman) told me Peter Kenyon
would be doing a profile piece and it would be better if I didn't do my
notes.
"I told him he could shove it. I shall not be doing them again."
Bates' notes have become highly popular with Chelsea fans, a source of
both controversy and news.
But he said: "I've been doing my programme notes for 21 years and I
shall not be doing them again.
"I watched the match and there were an awful lot of fans waving their
programmes at me and pointing to my page and saying 'where the hell are
you?'"
