Bates to sue Abramovich - Report
Ken Bates' departure from Chelsea could yet end in a legal dispute,
according to a report in the Daily Express.
Bates, who resigned as chairman last week, is said to have issued a
￡2 million writ against the club's billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich.
The writ claims allowances and expenses for continuing to represent
the club at the Premier League and the Football Association.
Abramovich's advisors have sought to settle but have failed to satisfy
Bates, claims the paper.
Bates announced his decision to quit at his last chairman's supper club
, pointing to a clash between western and eastern values following
Abramovich's ￡300 million takeover.
He had become increasingly marginalised with the scrapping of his
notorious programme notes a symbolic watershed.
