KENYON: WE'LL BE STRONGER

Chief executive Peter Kenyon was the latest guest on the Chelsea True Blue
Show, where he talked about his hopes for the coming season.

'We set the standards and the standards are high,' he said. 'Expectations
are enormous. Two domestic cups, a semi final and second in the league is
not a bad season, but it hurt to lose that in particular. There was hunger
and disappointment, and the players have come back stronger.

Kenyon, who has been at Chelsea since early 2004, was speaking with
presenters Charlie Stillitano and Giorgio Chinaglia. He also talked about
the Club's transfer policy, and was keen to dismiss the idea that Chelsea
is the only big spender around.

'Just spending cash doesn't make you successful. The world is littered
with clubs who have spent as much as us and not won anything,' he
explained. 'I've never prescribed to the idea that cash equates to success.
I don't think you can do it without cash these days, the stakes are high.
We've just seen what Manchester United have done in the last few weeks,
and Liverpool are starting to spend.'

When asked about the squad's current trip to California, and the games
ahead, Kenyon said: 'I think we have an obligation to put on a good show.
The period we're here is probably the most critical period in the next
season. It's critical we get this thing right. Jose wants to play three
games out here, and was delighted when we were playing Club America.
They're good quality, representing the top in their country.'
