Q&A with Chelsea's Ashley Cole

Ashley Cole spoke to ESPN Soccernet Press Pass from Chelsea's pre-season
training camp in Los Angeles. See the interview on Friday's Press Pass.

Q: How do you think your first year as a Chelsea player went, personally?
第一年的藍軍生涯有什麼感受？
A: I've had highs and lows I think. I've had a long, hard, hard season
with injury, which was disappointing to go to the club with an injury,
but still I've had a lot of highs in winning the Carling Cup and the FA
Cup.
有起有伏，那是一個漫長又困難的賽季，還有傷病問題，不過還是有許多值得高興
的事情，像是卡林盃和足總盃。
Probably say fifty-fifty, but I've enjoyed every minute of it, it's
been brilliant. The lads have been really good and so hopefully next
season I can be fit and win the Champions League or the Premiership
again.

的拿下歐冠和英超。
Q: What sort of differences did you run into playing left-back for Chelsea
as opposed to left-back for Arsenal on the pitch?

A: Of course it was different formations, for Arsenal 4-4-2 and it was
different when I came to Chelsea with a diamond, but I enjoy it. It
gives me more wing to run up and down in and also we have great players
here. So far it's been a joy just to play with these guys.
當然那是不同的陣型，阿森那是四四二，而我來到卻爾西時是菱形中場，但我也很
享受，因為那給了我空間跑上跑下，我的隊友們也很優秀，跟他們一起踢球是種樂
趣。
Q: How did winning the FA Cup final last year against Manchester United
rank with your achievements as a player?
上賽季戰勝曼聯贏得足總盃有什麼感想？
A: Yeah, it's brilliant. Two days before that game I couldn't even walk so
just to be on the bench was amazing. So to get on for the last ten
minutes was great and I think it was my fourth FA Cup medal, which is
brilliant.
太棒了，那場比賽兩天前我甚至還不能走路，能坐上板凳已經是個奇蹟了，最後10
分鐘替補上場實在讓人開心，這是我第四個足總盃，太棒了。
Q: Of course, you lost out on the race for the title. Did the best team in
England win the title last season?

A: Yeah, I think that you have to give them credit and be fair. They've
done well and been very consistent. We have to look back and say the
key injuries that we had, would we have won it with them still playing?

It's something of course that no one will ever know, but we still think
that we are the best team and if we had everyone fit, of course Petr
Cech, and people like JT, then we think we were good enough to win it.

們有切赫和特里，我們足夠成為冠軍。
Q: Of course now you're even more of a team with the off-season
acquisitions. What's your verdict on the players that Chelsea have
brought?
對新援們你有什麼看法？
A: Yeah, it's good. I think even before they'd come we had a great squad
and to add people like Pizarro, Sidwell, Ben Haim, hopefully Alex, or
if Malouda comes in, I think it'll be brilliant.
即使沒有新援我也覺得我們擁有強大的陣容，不過加入了皮薩羅、西德維爾、本哈
伊姆，或是阿列克斯和馬盧達，我們更強了。
Q: You mentioned Florent Malouda, if he does sign and that'll be obviously
someone you play with on the left hand side. What will that bring to
the table?
你提到了馬盧達，如果他加盟了他會跟你同樣在左路戰鬥，這會有什麼影響？
A: Yeah, that's If I play on the team as well. Nah, just saying, just to
get bodies in and great players and you add people like that, he's a
French international which is brilliant.

Still we have great wingers with Shaun Wright-Phillips, Robben, Joe
Cole can play there, and Kalou, so on the wings I think it's look good
for us.

Q: If you had to pick one: Premier League or Champions League? What does
Ashley Cole want to win next season?
如果新賽季二選一，你要歐冠還是英超？
A: I think for me the Champions League I've been lucky to play in the
final and of course lose, but, so to pick up the Champion's League I
think would be my biggest ever career high. I've won the Premier League
so I'd have to say the Champions League.
歐冠，之前我很幸運的參加了歐冠決賽，只可惜沒能拿下，我想歐洲冠軍會是我職
業生涯的巔峰。我已經贏過英超冠軍了，所以我必須說我想要歐冠。
Q: One final question about England; a big few months coming up. How do
you rate England's prospects in the forthcoming season?
你怎麼看新賽季的英格蘭國家隊？
A: Yeah I think we're still confident as players that we can still qualify.
We've got tough games. Of course we've got to still play Russia and
Croatia at home, which is going to be tough, but we're confident in
ourselves that we can get a good run together and get the wins that we
need and hopefully qualify for the World Cup.
我想我們還是充滿自信的，我們可以晉級，當然我們知道我們還要面對俄羅斯和克
羅埃西亞這兩個強敵，但我們會取得好結果。
Q: And of course expectations will be enormous if you do again on England.
They always are aren't they?
期望會是巨大的，不是嗎？
A: Yeah, I think there's always a lot of pressure on the lads to go out
and beat every team, but I said we're confident in the players that
we've got and the ability in us that we'll go through.
當然，我們總是承載著巨大的壓力，不過我們總是充滿自信和實力，會成功的。
